Aquatic Study

Help Shape the Future of Aquatic Services in White Rock

The City of White Rock is undertaking an Aquatics Needs Assessment & Feasibility Study to better understand current and future community needs related to aquatic recreation. This study will explore how aquatic services could be provided in White Rock now and into the future.

This page is the main place to learn about the project and share your feedback through the community survey. Through community consultation, this study will gather input on community needs, preferences, and levels of support for potential future facility projects.

Project Background

At present, White Rock does not offer aquatic recreation, as the city does not have a pool. Residents who wish to participate in swimming lessons, aquatic fitness, therapy, or leisure swimming must travel to facilities in neighbouring municipalities.

The Aquatic Needs Assessment and Feasibility Study will be a comprehensive report that:

  • Summarizes community needs, preferences, and priorities related to aquatic recreation
  • Identifies gaps in service and demand for aquatic programming
  • Examines opportunities and constraints, as well as other considerations, for providing aquatic services in White Rock
  • Evaluates feasible approaches to aquatic service delivery

This will establish a clear, evidence-based understanding of community demand, service gaps, and opportunities related to aquatic recreation. The findings will support future discussions and decision-making by City staff and Council regarding aquatic service provision in White Rock.

We want to hear from you!

The community survey is a key part of the Aquatics Needs Assessment & Feasibility Study. The purpose of this survey is to gather information on community participation, preferences, and priorities related to aquatic activities, including current usage of facilities outside White Rock and interest in potential future aquatic services within the City.

  • The survey closes on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.
