Kent Street Activity Centre Needs Assessment Study is Complete

The Kent Street Activity Centre Needs Assessment Study conducted by RC Strategies was completed in the Spring of 2024.

228 Community Surveys were completed, 11 discussion sessions with over 75 participants were held, and 61 public comments were received.

Trends and best practices, a jurisdictional scan of seniors programming, population and demographics, and a review of current programming and facility utilization were researched and analyzed in finalizing the Needs Assessment Study. The recommended approach from the Needs Assessment Study is for the City to work with service delivery partners towards meeting the identified core space needs for Seniors at an integrated community “hub” facility.

A corporate report dated April 29, 2024 from the Director of Recreation and Culture titled “Kent Street Activity Centre Needs Assessment Study” was presented to Mayor and Council.

Motion Number: 2024-144 was moved and seconded that Council:

  1. Receive for information, the report dated April 29, 2024, from the Director of Recreation and Culture, titled “Kent Street Activity Centre Needs Assessment Study;” and
  2. Direct staff to share this corporate report as well as the accompanying needs assessment report, with the Community Hub Steering Committee for their consideration.
