Following Council's Special Meeting hearing from the East Beach businesses along Marine Dr., City Council hosted a Special Council Meeting on Mon. July 12 at 4 p.m. to hear from West Beach businesses.

White Rock City Council met on Monday, July 5 at 4 p.m. for a Regular Council Meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for Council to hear from the businesses of East Beach along Marine Drive. Click here for the meeting agenda and video: http://ow.ly/Hj1Q50Fo3P2. 

The criteria for Step 3 is at least 70% of the 18+ population vaccinated with dose 1, along with low case counts and declining COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Marine Drive is open for eastbound travel only from Vidal Street to Maple Street, extending patio space to help Waterfront restaurants.

At the May 31 Council meeting, Council voted that the temporary closure will stay in place until the Provincial Health Officer allows restaurants to operate at 100-per-cent indoor seating capacity. The original end date was Sept. 30.

City Council made the decision at the May 10 Council meeting to close one lane of Marine Drive this season to extend patio space for restaurants, which are financially struggling during the pandemic.
