Some of the businesses I currently leave White Rock for: Medical imaging, separate from the hospital. Bike shop (not just ebikes). Yarn and crafts shop.

A yarn/fibre arts store. More variety in restaurants including other ethnicities (mexican, chinese, local fusion, italian, etc). A bike store with a service shop. Any medical business that will give residents faster access to healthcare (primary care, specialists, diagnostics such as imaging, etc.) Local products or farm to table type store. Would love to see Penguin Meats and Clancy's Tea Shop style stores return.

We are a small community, for serve the locals, the white rock beach business strip got the most what we need, other than entertaining part of it. How to attract more visitors and make their trip worthwhile the travel and generate more revenues for local businesses? I would think of a upscale healing/meditation/spa resorts. Yoga, pilate, and jazz music for night life. More fun water activities orgnized. A fun social lounge, a fun castle/indoor park for kids. A movie threater... a night market like Richmond night market in the Summer. Of course, attractive shopping stores/coffee shops/resturants miles long.

It would be amazing to see boutique shops, lots of art galleries, local made items and gift stores, wine bars, variety of restaurants, and food shops, to elevate the area instead of having business that don’t last. Free or low cost parking would be great too. Parking has always been a contentious issue.

White Rock should build on the successes of White Rock Lights and become a wintertime “Festive Lights Destination", during the dark winter season.
Beginning at Halloween and continuing into early spring, changing light themes could create a series of multicultural celebrations reflecting Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas, Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter/spring.
White Rock Lights could become a signature tourism and economic-development initiative, giving people reasons to visit repeatedly during the quieter winter months and support our businesses.
Using a collaborative Category B event structure, the City could bring together cultural groups, service clubs, businesses and community organizations to create Light events under the White Rock Lights umbrella, while providing coordination and promotion.
This initiative could support local businesses, help revitalize Marine Drive and establish White Rock as a unique Lower Mainland winter destination.

As a senior without a car (very common in White Rock) I would like to see a recycle depot and, a food bank in White Rock. The closest ones are in Surrey and going by bus there or back with a load is very, very difficult, if not impossible. This would help not only seniors but also low income families. I'd also like to see pink box recycle bins, for soft plastics, so they don't go in the landfill. The city of Vancouver has these in all apartments and condos. Plant more trees to keep things cool and quiet, as well as for the birds and animals. And more pet friendly rental apartments. And a veterinary clinic actually in White Rock, one we can walk to with our pets. More variety of shops and services, no more vape shops. And pedestrian friendly so we are less car dependant.

I would like to see more green space, a place to play volleyball or frisbee. More dog accessible areas. More variety of restaurants. Better parking prices.

Experiences, Retail, Curated Experiences-- think Santa Monica! There should also be a cap on the number of repeat businesses (i.e. too saturated with certain cuisines); Marine Dr. needs revival.

It would be nice to have some French, Italian , German, Polish restaurants. We all agree the beach needs a complete face lift.Could the taxes these businesses pay be turned to receipts they would provide for the upgrading of there establishments. Some of these waterfront properties have been vacant for years!

I think we have an opportunity to create a hotel district within Whiterock, and could attract leaders in the tourism industry such as Fairmont, Westin, Four Seasons, and capitalize on the beach being a tourism driver.

Love the festivals. Please continue to engage community. More people less animals keep them safe not on boardwalk. Do not cut trees. They will protect our waterfront. Have a green canopy that protects our sea and land. Not just the view ( very traditional thinking). Plant mangroves and kelp and sea weeds to support sea life and protect our shores.

Small barista cafes with good beans. No dogs please on boardwalk. It small enough for just pedestrians. They scare the birds and people with wheelchairs can’t access the walk. Humans first please.

Diversity of Food, Health, artisan and bakeries. Some small crafts workshops and brunch places. We also need to consider climate change and have shorter shrubbery to prevent tsunami or water damage to our water front due to changing weather. Don’t just cut the trees have an arborist provide nature led and natural inputs.

It would be very helpful to understand the process that led to the granting of so many vape store licences immediately after last year’s civic by-election and to make certain that any and all future approval decisions are free from nepotism and other conflict of interest influences, and are, instead, made in the best interests of the community and its tax-paying residents and businesses.

White rock Needs VARIETY. Especially at the beach, why is there 10+ options for one cuisine style?? Add in some brunch spots, more cafes. Semi mall needs a serious realization, it could bring new businesses into the town if given the opportunity.

Along the beachfront should feel like a farmers market but every day. Bakeries, more art galleries more retail shopping, a thrift store, a deli etc And reopening the larger storefront that used to be a little convenience shop is needed. And converting the three level old boathouse into something that resembles the north Vancouver and new Westminster quay. More spaces to showcase the talent that is in this town – Artist in every Medium similar to the pop-up gallery uptown, but having went down to the beach also..

Restore the beach. We need more garbage bins (beach), more store fronts (beach), cleaner streets (beach), leave uptown alone. You don’t need a new city hall. We need new schools & a high school. A public pool of our own. Stop tearing down all the rental buildings for million $ condos. Get realtors and developers off council. Hospital expansion is needed with upcoming developments. With taxes & demographics now, we shouldn’t have to rely on Surrey.

Different types of restaurants, more variety. We do not need 10x the same food. More little shops

Make it like Richmond Steveston or Fort Langley. A Marina would be a good addition as well.

I would like to see more East Asian cuisine options in White Rock, rather than more Indian restaurants, including Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese and Hong Kong-style restaurants and cafés. I would also like to see more modern gyms and fitness studios, along with affordable and trendy clothing stores for younger adults. More unique retail and lifestyle shops would bring greater variety to the area.
