Bring back free winter parking. At least for weekdays or for max 2hrs. That will definitely pull lot of crowds to the businesses.

Local butcher stores, more local deli and cafe, local farmer style grocery stores like Farm Boy. More beach rentals: Kayak rentals, boat rentals, boat lessons. Fresh fish market or seafood stores.

We moved to WR 3 years ago, but the lack of parking is a deterent to supporting WR business. It's great to see the BIA attracting festivals and concerts, but not knowing where we can park the car stops us from attending.
We did go to see the snowbird and Marine Drive was a gong show.
All the road accesses, where you might be able to get an ocean view in West WR have been encroached upon, so that isn't even an option.

On Marine Drive, we need more variety. It's becoming too many of the same things... ice cream shops, fish and chips, Indian food, and mediocre coffee shops.
No more vape shops.
A coffee shop that serves a well made flat white or latte. Good beans.
A good brunch place.
Upscale seafood and pacific northwest menu type restaurant.
A decent tap house or proper cocktail bar not some dive bar.
A nice bakery or deli.
A good group class gym with smoothie/health food bar that serves acai bowls or fruit bowls.
Something that caters to the 30-50 year old crowd.

Uptown should continue to revitalize the way it seems to be doing. The addition of Goldies, chez Christophe, and Cafe Artigianno is great. Big Way is adds variety. It'd be nice to have more boutique clothing shops that are upscale but not too outrageous.
Semiahmoo mall should have better clothing options, like coquitlam center or Guilford mall. Or maybe offer clothing shops like what they have at Park Royal.

You have 1,000 characters, so I'd make it concrete and aspirational rather than just listing businesses. Your Edmonton/Calgary/Toronto/San Diego point is really about making White Rock feel like a vibrant destination rather than simply a beach with restaurants.

I would love to see White Rock become a more vibrant, walkable destination year-round. Cities like Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and San Diego show how great public spaces combined with unique local businesses can bring a downtown or waterfront alive.

I'd like more plant-based and health-focused restaurants, wellness/health centres, unique independent shops, cafés, bakeries and businesses that give White Rock its own identity rather than more chains.

Our greatest asset is the waterfront. We should have more businesses supporting kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, rentals, lessons and other water activities, along with more beach activities and family recreation.

I'd also love more pedestrian walkways, gathering spaces, patio

Much more variety of food restaurants along waterfront; invest in the waterfront and capitalize on the location/view/special character...put bylaws in place to limit the amount of restaurants in each cuisine category, add rules as to the character of the building design; use vacancy tax (for all those empty storefronts); more social-opportunity outdoor spaces for interaction. Like Europe, take advantage of our climate and design uptown & five corners with patios, outdoor spaces for listening to live music (many local wonderful music talent), eating, drinking, socializing. More wine bars.

Sauna, community spaces, better coffee shops. As others mentioned, more variety...many similar, often empty restaurants along the waterfront as well as vape shops

More coffee shops that know how to make proper flat whites. I see others noted trendier/popular cafes like Pallet or Prado etc..

A spin studio at the beach.

Dogs allowed in all areas for walking.

Gated dog park by the WAG.

A cool facial spot.

A deli for handmade sandwiches. Can’t find those anywhere out here. Something like the Italian spot La Grotto in East Van that offers olives, meats, cheeses, coffees, etc..

A wine bar uptown.

Shops like Aesop, boutique fashion shops for 25-40 year olds instead of just second hand and 60+.

Pottery courses/storefront.

A pool room that’s not stinky.

More variety. We’ve far too many of the same types of food there now - sadly, rent and parking are too high to attract ppl. Beyond that, clean the rest of the city up. The beach and business areas of 152 are ok enough, but much of the rest? It’s embarrassing. The litter, the yards? I moved here 3 years ago and have had over 23 flat tires on my wheelchair from broken glass and dirty needles. I must pick my dog up when walking for the same. The litter? The streets? The city employees need to trim dead bushes, pick up all the broken glass, litter, crap really - it’s everywhere. For the taxes? Shame on you WR counsel!

A seafood restaurant/bistro on the White Rock waterfront strip (Marine Drive). Italian restaurant and deli would be another restaurant option that would diversify dining options. Revitalize Semiahmoo Mall with more contemporary home, clothing and shoe stores. A local movie theatre in the community would be great.

I am very excited about Goldie’s and Big Way coming to WR. I’d love to see more popular cafes that serves good coffee and baked goods such as Nemesis, Cow Dog, Grounds for Coffee and 49th Parallel. I’d also like to see diverse food option on Marine Drive.

I like to see the beach cleaned up and free from garbage. We should also have bylaws preventing dogs or pets swimming at the beach. I saw dogs poo right in the water, and the dog owner didn't pick it up. It is disgusting, especially for children who are swimming nearby.

Key word is variety... Would like to see more options for locally made goods, home decor. Embrace the artistic vibe of the city and support businesses focused on arts, crafts and supplies. Locally owned cafés with later hours. Variety of restaurant cuisine. Wine bar. Ice cream shop uptown. Development of brewery area, introduce more craft beverage businesses and make it a hub. Food and drink carts and more seating in Miramar Plaza. Food and drink carts on the pier. Sauna and cold plunge at the beach.
