Less Indian restaurants, there's far too many, and most of these restaurants are empty. Not sure what the purpose is... More places like WAG that give you a feeling being on a short vacation when you go to the beach. Take a closer look at Fort Langley! That is well done.

Creating a boutique style destination such as Fort Langley would attract people to the local businesses. We need more diversity in terms of stores - antique stores, trendy clothing, home decor etc. Restaurants should feel have a one of a kind feel with different cuisines. People are drawn to tapas style restaurants. Having a beachfront steakhouse would also be so beneficial!

Please no more East Indian places on the waterfront. The places are always dead and no one wants to eat there anyway.

The city should own one of the waterfront properties and use it as an events space, pop-up space, or a kitchen share.
Also, please consider limiting the number of similar businesses to allow for diverse offerings and better opportunity for each business to be successful. Give financial incentives for those who offer something different.
This isn’t business specific, but please find every way for the small-town, seaside vibe to flourish. Allow the water and trees to be the main attraction. These factors are our key differentiating features (the reason people want to visit or live here).

Look at successful waterfront revitalization projects such as Lonsdale Quay for inspiration, while creating something distinctly White Rock.
Rejuvenate the area without turning it into a generic modern development. White Rock has a lot of charm and history worth preserving.
Encourage a mix of BC restaurants, cafés, bakeries, boutiques and small businesses- lees donuts, waves cafe, jam jar, ignite, pure bread bakery…
A few attractive, character-filled hotels rather than large towers, ideally with restaurants/cafés at street level.
Make it easier and safer to walk the waterfront, with wider sidewalks, reduce to 1 lane- 1 way, and expand the sidewalk.
More benches, picnic tables and comfortable places to sit that aren’t tied to a restaurant.
Weather-proofing, Covered areas, heaters and sheltered patios would make the waterfront usable much more of the year.
A beautiful gateway/entrance — The transition from the upper town down toward the waterfront.

I grew up in White Rock, and in some ways for a while. It felt like a bit of a ghost town. It's nice to see it, bouncing back a little bit. You need to do something to bring back the beach culture and we need restaurants on the beach that our diverse right now. It seems like there are too many that are Indian restaurants. And I think we need to add in some fish and chips, some burger shacks, a couple more high-end restaurants with views, because right now. It's looking pretty monocultural, rather than multicultural. Definitely need to bring the sandcastle contest back. It was the best event on the whole West Coast, and the parking down on the beach needs to either be reduced or there needs to be parking lots designated at either ends of the beach with shuttles. Every 10 minutes, families spending money for parking on the beach. Leaves less money to spend at restaurants. I love what i'm seeing, but I definitely want to see more happening at the beach

Waterfront parking for business patrons need to be free. Help small businesses out. Businesses want to open but parking hit is a lot. Doing business in WR is expensive!

Our beach front strip is missing ( and Id love to see):
-a proper coffee house (blend or Artiguano) -Wine and tapas bar -poke bar -green healthy option lime freshii -kebab place with Middle Eastern desserts -high end linen, small art, and scented candle, style gift shop (think Martha's vinyard) with White Rock shirts, pillows, art etc - a cabana beach front rental business - a custom picnic business that sets up seating table and food, just show up.

I think it’s shameful the way businesses who have empty space let the exterior deteriorate. They should be responsible for keeping it up. (Old Giiraffe location) I feel like the whole beach area needs some revitalization now that the boat house is gone.

How about a good brewery, a seafood restaurant, a cool burger joint, or even a Brazilian steakhouse (all-you-can-eat) where the Boathouse is? That would be really interesting. An Italian restaurant wouldn’t be a bad idea either! A good café like Breka, or even Breka itself, would be great too. Oh, and a good wood-fired pizza place! Am I asking for too much? :)

Permit / license a variety of small businesses not just restaurants. Make process simple for micro businesses.
Allow for food carts, food trucks, buskers, stands, kiosks, stalls, encourage coop businesses sharing expensive rent or large leases. Permit patios. Allow takeout only shops.
Simplify permitting or change of licensing. Reduce requirements for parking / seating / etc. extend business hours.
Turn small parking lot near pier into small business kiosks as a pilot project next summer. There is plenty of parking in parkade.
Operate a free / low cost shuttle connecting waterfront to uptown?

Would love to see a more diverse range of restaurants, bistros, and cafes. In particular, we don’t need another south Asian-style restaurant on the strip. Even a chain like cactus or Joey would be nice on that strip. For shopping, would like to see more boutiques and locally-owned businesses.
